Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Superuser Web Design collects through superuser.com.au, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. Who we are

Superuser Web Design is a web design business in Brisbane, Queensland, run by Chris Harvey. In this policy, “we” and “us” means Superuser Web Design. To ask about your information, call 0483 938 297 or use our contact page.

2. What we collect

When you send an enquiry. Our forms ask for your name and phone number, and you can add your email, business name, website, what you need, your budget, when you need it and a message. We also note which page you sent it from and when.

When you buy the book. Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details. We never see or store your card number. Stripe tells us your name, your email, what you bought, the amount and an order reference. We keep a count of how many times each file is downloaded, because the links have a limit.

When you call or email us. Whatever you choose to tell us.

When you visit the website. Google Analytics records which pages you visit, how you found the site, your device and browser, and your rough location (city level). Our web host and our security tools use your IP address to block spam and repeated failed log-ins. Our spam checks only keep a scrambled version of it, for a few minutes.

We don’t ask for sensitive information, such as health details. Please don’t include it in a form.

3. Why we use it

• To reply to your enquiry, give you a quote and do the work you ask for.
• To send you the book, and help if a download doesn’t work.
• To keep business and tax records.
• To see which pages and ads bring in enquiries, so we can improve them.
• To protect the website from spam and attacks.

We don’t sell your information. We won’t add you to a mailing list unless you ask.

4. Cookies and similar tools

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. This site uses:

• Google Analytics (cookies starting with _ga), to count visits and see how the site is used. It starts after you first scroll, tap or click, or after a few seconds.
• Google Ads (cookies starting with _gcl), to see when an ad led to a call or an enquiry. Google may also show our ads to people who have visited this site before.
• Cloudflare Turnstile on our forms, to check that a real person is sending them. It looks at signals from your browser and device.
• Your light or dark choice, saved in your own browser. It is never sent to us.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them. You can turn off personalised Google ads at myadcenter.google.com, and stop Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

5. Who we share it with

We only share your information with services that help us run the business, and only what they need:

• our web host, which stores this website and its database
• our email provider, which sends and delivers our emails
• Stripe, for book payments (see Stripe’s privacy policy)
• Google, for Analytics, Ads and Tag Manager (see Google’s privacy policy)
• Cloudflare, for the spam check on our forms (see Cloudflare’s privacy policy).

Google, Stripe and Cloudflare may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We use well-known services that publish how they protect personal information. We will also share information if the law requires it.

6. How long we keep it

• Enquiries: while we are talking with you or working together, and after that for as long as we need it for our records.
• Book orders: 5 years, because tax law requires us to keep sales records. Your download links stop working after a year.
• Emails the website sends (such as enquiry alerts) are logged for up to 90 days. Emails with download links are logged without their text.
• Google Analytics keeps its data for no longer than 14 months.

7. Keeping it safe

The site uses a secure (https) connection. Only we can log in to see enquiries and orders, and log-ins are protected against guessing. We keep the website and its software up to date. No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the law requires.

8. Seeing, correcting or deleting your information

You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To ask, call 0483 938 297 or use our contact page. It is free, and we will reply within 30 days. We may need to check who you are first. We can’t delete records the law requires us to keep, such as book sales, but we will tell you if that applies.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first: call 0483 938 297 or use our contact page. We will reply within 30 days. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

10. Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the way we handle information changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
