My story
Twenty years of looking closely.
I started using GNU/Linux in 2005, and I’ve been building websites ever since. Along the way I’ve been a web designer, an online marketer, a Linux and server administrator and a photographer.
Most of my clients are small businesses in Brisbane and around Australia. A cabinet maker, a chiropractor, a glazier, a motel, eight childcare centres and a national association for childbirth educators, to name a few.
I look after their Google Search Console, Business Profile and Analytics. So every month I see which searches bring people in, and which visits turn into calls. That is what I build every website around.
When I rebuilt this website in 2026, I lined up the top ten web design websites in Brisbane and pulled each first screen apart. Then I wrote down everything I had learned. That became my book.
