Bradford Magazine Specific Tips
Bradford magazine is a magazine style theme that uses custom fields for the images it displays on the main page. These images will not be used in the post itself unless you include them in the usual way.
There are two custom fields available.
- leadimage
- featuredarticleimage
leadimage is used in the Lead article and featuredarticleimage is used for the featured articles as seen on the screenshot of the Front page image overview.
The Lead Image is a portrait shape and the featured article image is landscape shape. A Portrait shaped image is taller than it is wide and a landscape shaped image is wider than it is tall.
How to use the fields
On the page where you write your post scroll down to the section "Custom Fields".
In the screenshot below you can see the perfect example of how to use the fields. For your post you will have to add the keys which should be available from the "Select" drop down menu, otherwise type "leadimage" for the key followed by the full url to the image and do the same for "featuredarticleimage".
Image size is very important for the fields you use.
- The leadimage should be roughly 230px wide and 300px high.
- The featured article image should be 255px wide and the height should be roughly 100px.
Categories and Tags
The way we use categories and tags on the blog is possibly unique to our site. We use categories mostly for structure and the functionality of some plugins and use descriptive key words for tags.
Only use the categories blog and your username, use tags to categorise your post.
In the screenshot below Jacks done the thing most people would normally do, so I've taken the extra categories and used them as tags. The next thing I did was remove the SEO and Linkbuilding categories from his post. This is specific to the way I've setup the site and not a rule or guideline on how to use tags and categories.
